We are excited to announce that we have hired Meagan Collins to join CureGRIN as our Research Coordinator. Meagan will help us to build a global research network of researchers, physicians and biotech companies working together to find a cure.

We were blown away of the quality of applicants who applied for this role. After interviewing several candidates, it was clear that Meagan’s academic background coupled with strong communication and people skills made her the perfect person for the job.

We asked Meagan to introduce herself to the CureGRIN community:

“Hello everyone! My name is Meagan Collins, and I am so excited to be joining the CureGRIN team as the first Research Coordinator for the Foundation! I am a Master of Science candidate in the Integrated Program in Neuroscience at McGill University, where I am researching the genetics and molecular influences underlying a rare disorder known as Congenital Mirror Movements. Throughout my studies, I have worked in a lab which focuses on researching the genetic causes of various neurodevelopmental disorders using sequencing technologies, such as Whole Exome Sequencing. I have also served as a patient advocate by taking part in creating online content for various patient outreach outlets.

I was compelled by the stories shared by GRIN families, and because I am very passionate about both rare disease research and translational research, I want to take part in helping to find a cure for GRIN disorders. I hope to bring my scientific research skills, analytical thinking skills, and science communication skills to CureGRIN to develop synergistic clinical and research partnerships and to advocate for patients and families. My goals for this new role are to establish a global GRIN disorder research network and to serve as a resource for families of GRIN disorder patients.”

Meagan will begin the role on a part-time basis while she finishes up her Master’s Degree in Neuroscience at McGill University. She will join us on a full-time basis in late Spring. This is a temporary independent contractor position funded by our participation in Chan Zuckerberg Initiative’s Rare As One Network.
