Serve the global GRIN, GRIA, and GRIK community (volunteer, remote position)

Would you like to join us on our mission to improve the lives of people living with GRIN, GRIA and GRIK Disorder?
Do you know our next Treasurer? CureGRIN Foundation is looking for a Treasurer located in the United States to join our Voluntary Board of Directors. This person does not need to be a family member of someone with GRI Disorder, but they must be committed to our mission. If you know anyone with finance or accounting experience interested in serving the global GRI community, please nominate them by providing their contact information to heather@curegrin.org by May 3, 2022.
Treasurer Responsibilities
- Works with paid bookkeeper to reconcile bank accounts and produces financial statements, which they present at board meetings
- Ensures tax-related documents and legal forms are filed on time, such as the documents required to maintain the organization’s tax-exempt status
- Serves as chair of the Finance Committee, member of Executive Committee and financial officer of the organization
- Manages, with the finance committee, the board’s review of and action on its financial responsibilities
- Assists the chief executive in preparing the annual budget and presenting it to the board for approval
- Reviews the annual audit and answers board members’ questions
- Ensures that all independent contractors are paid monthly
- Ensures all payments to vendors are made in a timely manner
- Properly classifies revenues/expenses in accordance with Non-Profit accounting standards
Other Board Responsibilities
- Advance the organization’s mission
- Fulfill legal and fiduciary responsibilities
- Come prepared to board meetings
- Hire and oversee the CEO
- Recruit exceptional new members
- Serve on committees
- Support the organization’s fundraising plan
Time Commitment
- 2-4 hours/week. Depending on the time of year, some weeks will require additional work
Qualifications
- Understands and is committed to CureGRIN Foundation’s mission
- Excellent organizational skills regarding documentation and file or record-keeping
- Solid understanding of budget planning and finance
- Proven work with budgets and financial statements
- Experience with Quickbooks and Microsoft Excel
Preferred Qualifications
- An experienced finance professional or Certified Public Accountant, ideally with at least 5 years senior management experience
- Experience working in a nonprofit setting
- Familiarity with Non-Profit Accounting
CureGRIN is a parent-led foundation. The inability to meet requirements due to unpredictable care needs of individuals living with GRI Disorder, is considered separately.

CureGRIN’s Letter to the CDC Regarding ICD-10 Codes for GRI Disorders
Since our founding in 2019, CureGRIN has been working tirelessly alongside researchers, clinicians and industry to accelerate the path to treatments and cures. There are many promising compounds and genetic treatments, but there are barriers in getting those to clinical trial. Adding ICD-10 codes for these nine genes would remove a significant barrier to clinical trials, by helping us to better understand where our patients are located.
